After months of scouring the internet for sneak previews and teasers, a look at the entire Alexander Wang x H&M collection has finally arrived. The Swedish retail giant initially announced news of their collaboration whilst at Coachella in April this year, since then we have been enamoured to see how Wang incorporates his prominent dark and condensed aesthetic to H&M.
Alexander Wang has accomplished an impressive catalogue of accolades since he launched his full women’s collection in 2007. The brand now has 16 stores established across 7 countries with the flagship store located in SoHo, NYC. In 2011 Wang was awarded ‘Best Menswear Designer of the Year’ by GQ US and the following year he was honoured to be announced as the Creative Director of the French fashion house Balenciaga. Wang had established himself as a designer to be taken very seriously and was awarded the title ‘Fashion Star’ by Fashion Group International in recognition. Now in 2014 he has continued at an astonishing pace, stepping up to be the next recruit to design a collection with Swedish behemoths, H&M.
The H&M collaboration demonstrates a clear sportswear influence that can be seen devoted throughout the collection and typically, Wang includes a variety of urban street style essentials offering a range of hoodies, sweatshirts and coats just in time for winter. The name WANG can be seen emblazoned across many items in the collection and the crop top and leggings Rihanna was seen wearing whilst out in NYC are a prime example.
The collection encapsulates the darker and more refined aspects of current urbantrends, incorporating Wang’s contemporary trademark individuality and H&M’s ethos to offer fashionable clothing at attractive prices. The continuance of indistinct colours and simplistic aesthetics have been executed to the highest standards, which tends to be accustom when referring to this wunderkind designer.
The collaboration has been hugely anticipated across the globe and now the full collection has arrived, we can certainly see why. Alexander Wang x H&M launches November 6 at selected H&M stores and online, selected items will also be available at Alexander Wang’s website.
